Sometimes, the project is less about creating original content and more about editing material supplied.

To complement its pioneering iPad-based global bartender training programme, Pernod Ricard commissioned Contagious to produce an invaluable library of books.

Covering no fewer than 10 major drinks categories, each introduced by a world-renowned ‘guru’ including the likes of Julio Bermejo (“the epicentre of Tequila in the US”) and Ian Burrell (Global Rum Ambassador), my job was to distil each module’s content down into a rich reference manual, encompassing history, production, appreciation and cocktails.

Most copywriters specialise in one particular drink, so to share in the knowledge and passion of the foremost experts from almost a dozen different categories was an education. The only downside? I’m going to need a bigger drinks trolley…
